Fire Safety Month

The James City County FIre Departmentment Visited our school on Friday, October 5th. The Students were able to tour the fire truck and see a presentation on fire prevention. Saturday, October 6th, the local station on John Tyler will be hosting an Open House for the public. On October 23rd, at 1:00 pm, our 1st graders will be going to the fire station to deliver cookies and to tour the station.

Auction

Saturday, November 3rd from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

This year the auction has been scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd. It is a family friendly event with fun for all. Brian Moricle from our local radio station, FM 93.5 "The Burg" & WMBG 740 AM will be serving as our DJ for the evening. They are also sponsoring 25 free promotionals for our auction. More auctions forms are available in the office for potential donors or sponsors.

Pastors' Appreciation Brunch

GCA Has planned a special brunch and chapel to honor our dedicated pastors and church leaders in our greater Penisnula area. Feel free to invite your pastors and church leaders. Box Tops for Education

Each year GCA is able to enhance our educational program through the Box Tops for Education program. Remember to send in your box tops by Friday, October 26th.

Fall Festival & Bible Character Dress Up Day

Friday, October 26th from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Teeny Tiny Farm will be bringing a petting zoo and providing pony rides on our playgrounds. Students may choose to wear jeans with any color shirt OR they may dress up as a favorite Bible character (angels, shepherds, kings, princesses, etc). Because we are celebrating our Fall Festival on Friday, October 26th, we will not be dressing up on October 31st. See teachers for specific schedule.

Luncheon for Financial Advisors

Friday, November 16th at 12:00 PM (Colonial Heritage Club)

GCA is hosting a special luncheon for financial advisors whose clients may be searching for a great tax deduction that also provides scholarships for economically challenged students who qualify under a new state program called the Virginia Education Improvements Scholarship Program. GCA has already qualified and met the rigorous standards for this program. After attending GCA for a year, our first student who qualified, scored at the 99%ile on the national Terra Nova 3 reading test! VERY IMPRESSIVE!

October 18th - Blaze Pizza Night, 5 PM - 7 PM

October 25th - Early dismissal at noon, teachers work day in the afternoon, childcare provided for those who sign up.

October 26th - Fall Festival - Teeny Tiny Farm & Bible Character Dress Up Day, 10 AM - 12 PM.

November 2nd - Elementary Report Cards go home.

November 3rd - GCA Auction, 4 PM - 7 PM, come for a "rip roarin' good time!"
